Jolie Voight, (born June 4, 1975, Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American
actress and director who is known for her sexy appeal and edginess as well as
her humanitarian work. She won an Academy Award for her supporting part as a
mentally ill patient in Girl, Interrupted (1999).Jolie, daughter of actor Jon
Voight, spent much of her early years in New York before relocating to Los
Angeles at age 11. She attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute
for two years, and after that, she enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. She
later studied drama at New York University. In addition to appearing in theater
productions, she also was a model and featured in music videos.Jolie's first
major movie performance was in Hackers (1995), during the filming of which she
got married to her first husband, British actor Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996;
divorced 1999). The film didn't find an audience, which was the case for
another series of films. Jolie was the segregationist wife of Alabama's
governor. She received much attention in 1997. Jolie later won a Golden Globe
Award. In the HBO movie Gia, she played a supermodel suffering from drug
addiction. She received numerous honours as well as the Golden Globe Award, and
Screen Actors Guild Award. After her Oscar-winning performance in Girl,
Interrupted, Jolie played in Pushing Tin, a comedy with John Cusack, Billy Bob
Thornton and in 2003 she was divorced. Jolie played the girlfriend of the
carjacker (Nicolas Cage), in Gone in Sixty Seconds 2000. In the following
years, she adopted her British accent and began learning street fighting and
kickboxing to take on the roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider 2001 and Lara Croft
Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. She played Alexander's mother in Oliver
Stone’s Alexander in 2004. She additionally, she starred alongside Jude Law and
Gwyneth paltrow in Sky Captain: The World of Tomorrow The World of Tomorrow, a
thriller featuring sci-fi in 1930s New York City. Both films failed at the box office
However, Jolie had a smash in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) which was a film
where she played an assassin disguised as a typical housewife. While working on
the film, she was introduced to Brad Pitt, who became her co-star.
